Sunset is the moment Agafay earns its reputation. The pale stone hills turn gold and then deep copper, the High Atlas darkens on the horizon, and the camps light their lanterns. Our sunset experiences are built around that hour, with pickup timed to the season.
We collect you in the afternoon and drive out to the desert. You arrive with time to walk the ridges, take photos and settle in with mint tea before the light changes. Many guests add a camel ride so they are out in the landscape as the sun goes down.
After sunset, dinner is served in a camp — Moroccan salads, tagine or couscous, fruit and tea — often with live music. We drive you back to Marrakech the same evening.
Sunset in Marrakech ranges from roughly 17:30 in December to around 20:45 in June, so pickup times shift through the year. We confirm your exact pickup time when we confirm the booking, and we always plan to be in the desert before the light starts to drop.
As a rough guide: December and January sunsets fall around 17:30-17:45, March and October around 18:45-19:15, and May to July around 20:15-20:45. We usually collect you about two and a half hours before sunset so there is time for the 45-minute drive, a walk on the ridges and mint tea before golden hour.
Evenings cool down fast once the sun is gone, even in summer. Bring a jacket or a scarf.
The sunset camel ride with dinner and a Moroccan show starts at €32 per person when you book direct with us on WhatsApp. It runs about five hours door to door and includes hotel pickup and drop-off in Marrakech.
