Full description

Marrakech rewards a guide. The medina is a thousand years of building on top of itself, the souks are a maze designed for traders rather than visitors, and the difference between wandering and understanding is one good local who knows which door leads where.

The morning covers the monumental city: the historic palace quarter with its carved cedar and zellige, the gardens, and the exteriors of the great mosque and minaret that set the skyline. The afternoon goes into the medina on foot — the artisan quarters, the dyers and metalworkers, the food and spice souks — and finishes on Jemaa el-Fnaa as the food stalls are setting up.

The tour is entirely private, so the pace and the emphasis are yours: more shopping, more history, more photography, or a slower day with longer breaks for mint tea.

  • Expect roughly 5–7 km of walking spread over the day, with vehicle transfers between districts.
  • Fridays and religious holidays can change opening hours at some monuments.
  • There is no obligation to buy anything in the souks; tell your guide if you would prefer to skip shops entirely.

Frequently asked questions

Are entrance fees included?

No. Tickets are paid on site so you only pay for the monuments you choose to enter — your guide will tell you each price in advance.

Can we visit the mosques?

The great mosques of Marrakech are not open to non-Muslim visitors, so they are admired and photographed from the outside. The historic madrasa and palaces are open to everyone.

Is it a walking tour?

Partly. The medina section is on foot; a vehicle moves you between districts so you do not lose the day to walking in the heat.

Can we shorten it to a half day?

Yes — see our half-day historical monuments tour, or tell us and we will build a shorter private version.
