Full description

The classic Moroccan road trip. Day one crosses the High Atlas at the 2,260 m Tizi n'Tichka pass, stops at the UNESCO-listed kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and the film studios of Ouarzazate, then follows the Valley of Roses to the Dades gorges for the night.

Day two winds through the Todra gorge, where 300 m cliffs narrow to a few metres, and continues across the black hamada to Merzouga. In late afternoon you meet your camels and ride an hour into the orange dunes of Erg Chebbi to your camp.

Dinner is tagine around the fire with Berber drumming and one of the darkest night skies in the world overhead. You wake for sunrise on the dunes, then return via Rissani and Ouarzazate to Marrakech.
